Project Planner (MSP) - European Space Agency project

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Planner to join our dynamic team. This role is critical in ensuring the successful execution of a key European Space Agency project and reports to the Project Director.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in the space and/or aerospace and defence industries, coupled with expertise in the creation and implementation of integrated master schedules, work package management, and risk mitigation strategies in a highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Development of Integrated Master Schedule (IMS): Create, maintain, and monitor a comprehensive IMS that outlines all project phases, including milestones, deadlines, and deliverables. Ensure the schedule is detailed, accurate, and aligns with project objectives.
  • Work Package Management: Define and organize work packages, ensuring they are manageable, traceable, and linked to project requirements. Coordinate with work package leads to ensure timely completion and integration of work packages into the overall project plan including critical timescales and budgetary information is captured.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies. Continuously monitor risk factors, updating the IMS and work packages to reflect any changes. Collaborate with stakeholders to implement risk management plans effectively.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Facilitate communication between internal and external stakeholders, ensuring all parties are informed of project status and changes. Promote collaboration and maintain a unified approach to project execution.
  • Performance Monitoring: Ensure effective regular project reporting, demonstrating a clear plan-on-a-page view that highlights critical work packages and the critical path. Track project progress against the IMS, identifying any deviations and implementing corrective actions. Provide regular status reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Resource Allocation: Work closely with the resource management team to ensure adequate allocation of personnel, equipment, and materials. Adjust allocations as necessary to meet project demands.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure all project activities comply with industry standards, regulations, and best practices. Implement quality assurance measures to guarantee the integrity and success of the project.

You will have

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years' experience in project planning and management within the space, aerospace, or defence industries through the full project lifecycle.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in the use and understanding of Project Management / resource tools such as MS Project and MS Project Server or other enterprise project management tool. Also, a working knowledge of SAP would be beneficial.
