August 23, 2024

At CBSbutler, we've made it our priority to create an environment where our employees can grow both personally and professionally. This article features a recent interview with Laura Fitzgerald, one of our Key Account Executives, to get her take on what it's like to be part of our team. Her story is packed with great insights into our work culture and the enriching opportunities we offer here at CBSbutler. Regardless of your current position, Laura's experiences really show why CBSbutler is a fantastic place to advance your professional experience at any point in your career.

Laura, can you start by telling us a bit about your background and what led you to CBSbutler?

Certainly! My career began in event sales right after university. I worked in various event venues, handling catering and venue packages. However, when COVID-19 hit, I was made redundant during my maternity leave, which led me to rethink my career path. After trying out a few jobs, I found myself back in events, but it wasn’t flexible enough for my family life.

A friend of mine, Beth, who had been with CBSbutler since graduation, suggested I give recruitment a try. Initially, I was hesitant due to the industry's reputation, but Beth always spoke highly of CBSbutler, so I decided to give it a go. I joined in October 2022, and it's been a great experience so far.

How has your transition into recruitment been?

Despite having no prior recruitment experience, my background in sales made the shift smoother. Recruitment is fundamentally about understanding people's needs and finding the right fit, similar to my previous roles. The extensive training and support I received at CBSbutler were instrumental in my successful transition.

What do you love most about your role at CBSbutler?

There are several aspects I appreciate. Firstly, the ability to work from home and adjust my hours to accommodate family commitments. Secondly, the commission-based structure is motivating – it rewards hard work and dedication.

Moreover, the company culture is fantastic. There's a great mix of ages and experiences, from long-term employees to fresh graduates. Everyone is friendly, supportive, and there's a real sense of community.

Can you tell us about your career progression and development opportunities here?

Absolutely. From the start, there were clear discussions about career paths and progression based on performance metrics like KPIs and targets. Training is ongoing and covers a wide range of topics, from social media to advanced sales techniques. This continuous development ensures we're always improving and staying ahead in our field.

How would you describe the work-life balance at CBSbutler?

As a working mum, work-life balance is crucial. CBSbutler has been incredibly accommodating, allowing me to tailor my work hours around school runs and family commitments.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in recruitment, particularly at CBSbutler?

Don’t be deterred by the industry's reputation. If you're hardworking and willing to learn, recruitment can be highly rewarding. CBSbutler, in particular, is a great place to start your recruitment career. The supportive culture and clear pathways for progression make it an ideal environment for both new and experienced professionals.

In conclusion, what’s your favourite part of working at CBSbutler?

The best part is that you get out what you put in. The opportunities for personal and professional growth are immense if you’re willing to work hard. It’s a dynamic and supportive environment that values each employee's contributions, making it a truly rewarding place to work.
